I wanted to eat some cookies today and instead of eating delicious traditional sugar filled cookies from the grocery store and wrecking the goal of getting in shape to stop the dad bod, I looked for a healthy cookie recipe.
Of course I found many so I opted for one with minimal ingredients, still including some sugar and with good reviews.
The first batch was made to the ingredient suggestions however I traded the artificial sweetener to brown sugar and because a reviewer suggested raisins, I too went with that.
The result, kid approved reasonably edible cookies. The banana taste is strong as outside of a little brown sugar, the banana is the sweetener. I only made four cookies with the first batch then added a few ingredients and while the result is nothing close to a sugar filled cookie from the store, they are actually pretty good and contain some decent protein, carb, and mental satisfaction towards eating a sweet treat.
2 cups oats
3/4 cup 2% milk (we have kids its what is in the fridge)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 cup raisins
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
While planning out next weeks worth of meals I found I needed snacks. I am looking for something that contains what I think I created, about 4 grams protein and around 100 calories. I will post this weeks meal plan soon too, which is something new we are doing moving forward. I will usually bring my food with me for the day but if diner was not planned, that is where I go for junk and eat more junk in the evenings if I did not eat properly throughout the day.
